Margot Olavarria holds an MA and PhD in Political Science from the New School for Social Research, and a BA in Latin American Studies, English/Writing and Thomas Hunter Honors Program from Hunter College, CUNY. After a teaching career from 1998 to 2009, she began to freelance in writing, editing and translation. Aside from The River Project, some of her clients include NYU's Hemispheric Institute for the Study of Performance and Politics and Latin American Perspectives. She continues to research and write on Latin America and has published on Chile and Cuba. Margot also does readings of her nonfiction work at venues in NYC.
