Cathy Drew is the executive director of The River Project, which she founded in 1986. She received a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from Columbia University in 1979 and a Master of Science in Biological Oceanography from the Marine Sciences Research Center, SUNY, Stony Brook, in 1984. From 1973 to 1978 Ms. Drew worked as scuba diver and underwater photographer on scientific expeditions throughout the southwest Pacific. The River Project, at Pier 40, Manhattan, is a marine biology field station and laboratory for estuarine science, focused on progressive ecosystem dynamics and habitat and wildlife development in the Hudson River estuary. Ms. Drew's current research on near-shore living resources informs many city, state and academic environmental programs.
